Hello all, Welcome to the forum. Hopefully you have discovered this forum by navigating to here via the No. 30 Squadron and Servicing Unit Association website, which I run, here www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/30_Sqn_Association.htmI set up the webpages, and now this forum, having become interested in the RNZAF's first Grumman Avenger squadron when I read Wally Ingham's great book, The Avengers, in 1992. I got to know Wally a couple of years ago and he made me a member of the Association. I had worked on Sir Tim Wallis's Grumman Avenger that flew in New Zealand in the 1990's, and as an RNZAF Historian I have a great interest in the squadron. This is one of the few remaining active WWII Squadron Associations, and I offered to make it global by setting up a website as an annex to my larger RNZAF site here www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz Now I am adding this forum, which can be simply used by people as a Guest Book to sign your name and add comments, or you can also ask questions and have discussions about the subjects realted to No. 30 Sqn and No. 8 Sqn (which was 30's forerunner). So, please feel free to join, or simply visit as a Guest and add comments, questions and any information you wish to offer. Any questions about the Squadrons' histories and personnel and also modelling queries are welcomed. If you want to get some good tips on managing your forum account, see the suggestions and tips here, which is a section on my other RNZAF related forum rnzaf.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=infoAll the best Dave Homewood Forum Webmaster

Excellent site, Dave. I love the Avenger nearly as much as the Corsair, so will be following things here with much interest.
Is the book "The Avengers" still available for purchase? I'd love to buy a copy if possible.

Interesting site. My father was in 30 Squadron during WW11, in and around the New Hebridies. He was Roy Archibald Paton, from Cambridge.

I have been neglecting this site for a while but am catching up again. I noticed a lot of spammers had posted rubbish here so i have deleted it all, and have made the forum members only. So if you want to leave a message please take the few minutes to sign up for free and then post the message. Robbie, I actually interviewed your father about his wartime career not too long before he passed away. He allowed me to scan his very interesting photo collection too, and some of them are on my website with his blessing. When I finally get around to typing it all up his full interview will appear on the website. The photo Pansy mentioned is here on the 30 Squadron and SU section homepage www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/30_Sqn_Association.htm
